I was born on August 17, 1943 in the small community of Artesia, California. I was raised on a dairy farm that belonged to my uncle and for many years my father was a milker for him.

I had six sisters and one brother; we lived in a small three-bedroom house with one bathroom.

I attended Artesia High School while at the same time worked every night at a gasoline service station. I dropped out of school before graduating and volunteered for the Army. At age 18 I was drafted and served two years as a Medical Corpsman.

I had four children from two marriages, my eldest daughter passed away at age 50. I have eleven grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren.

After completing my military service in 1964 I worked as a machinist until I was hired by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office in 1969. I served 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff retiring in January 2000. I served an additional nine years with the Department as an independent contractor working in background investigations.

I do not have a degree, but I completed two years of college.

My wife and I moved to Arroyo Grande November 2020.
