I grew up in a suburb of Denver, Colorado and then attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. After college I decided I needed to try to live in a different city just to prove to myself that I could survive on my own—just for a year or two.  So, I moved to Seattle, and lived there for 45 years.  During my working years in Seattle I worked for two separate structural engineering firms.  Most of my work was on the design of building projects in Washington and Alaska.  My last major project before retiring was a new replacement Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

A few years after I retired my wife and I decided that we needed to find a place with a bit more sunshine.  After investigations and exploring we landed on the Central Coast of California and moved here full time in 2019.  My wife and I have three children:  a son who is in IT in the San Francisco area, a daughter who is a college Chemistry professor in Virginia and a second daughter who is a marketing production manager in Kentucky.  We have three grandchildren in Kentucky.  We love the mild weather and opportunities for live theater here in the San Luis Obispo area.
