Glenn Clark was born and raised in Fresno and his family has been in California since 1850 arriving on a wagon train in search of a better life. After graduating from Fresno High School, he went on to study biochemistry at San Jose State (now California State University at San Jose). He earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry, an M.S degree in Dental Research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and completed his General Practice Residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY.
Glenn’s academic career began as an Assistant Professor in the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1976, becoming an Associate Professor in 1980, and full Professor in the Division of Oral Biology and Medicine, UCLA School of Dentistry in 1984. Pursuing a new opportunity, he moved across town to USC in 2003. He has been a Professor in the Division of Diagnostic Sciences, at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Glenn has had various consulting roles for institutions, including the National Institute of Dental Research. He is currently the President of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. Served in key administrative roles including Associate Dean of Research at UCLA School of Dentistry, Director of the Dental Research Institute at UCLA and Associate Dean of Distance Education at USC School of Dentistry and Director of the Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine Center at USC.
Published extensively in the field of orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders and sleep apnea.
After many years in academia and various professional engagements, Glenn settled on the Central Coast to enjoy its serene environment and continue contributing to the field of dentistry through consulting. He continues to run the remote teaching unit at USC. He enjoys daily walks with his wife and exploring new advancements in AI and healthcare education. Glenn resides in San Luis Obispo, CA. He enjoys spending quality time with his family, whom he credits as a constant support throughout his career. His wife is also a Professor at the USC School of Dentistry.
