Born in Waterbury, Connecticut in the forties and was moved to San Diego when I was in elementary school.
EDUCATION
I graduated with a BS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1970
MILITARY SERVICE
After graduation from college, I enlisted in the Navy and flew in the S2 and P2 aircraft. I was later a member of the United States Naval Air Reserve. I was fortunate to be discharged from active duty in Alameda, California and quickly found my way to Santa Clara when Silicon Valley was first emerging.
CAREER
I worked as a Program Manager for Unisys and joined Intel in 1976 to establish and manage the function of new product development and introduction into manufacturing. After seven years at Intel, I was a founding shareholder of Sun Microsystems in 1982. I managed Product Engineering, Manufacturing and founded the Federal Division. During my tenure, Sun was the fastest growing company the United States ultimately reaching 38,000 employees.
HOW DID YOU END UP ON THE CENTRAL COAST
After retiring from full time work at Sun, my wife Darlene and I moved to Arroyo Grande in 1993 and built a house in the Edna Valley where we now live. I continued to participate in startups in the Bay Area, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara.
HOBBIES / INTERESTS
Science, and electronics in particular, has always been a hobby since I was in my teens and continues to this day. I supply wireless Internet to our neighborhood. I hold multiple patents in electronics, mechanical and biotech engineering. I am a licensed Instrument Pilot with both military and private experience with thousands of hours flight time.

FAMILY
I have been happily married for over 46 years. No children. We are currently between cats.
